Widebody Trans Am With 808 HP Pits Itself Against A 600 HP BMW E36 Time Attack Car

Hoonigan’s ‘This vs. That’ drag racing series routinely pits some of the quickest cars on four wheels against each other and in this latest clip, brought together a Plymouth Trans Am and a BMW E36 3-Series. However, both have been heavily tuned.

The owner of the 1970 Trans Am featured has gone to town overhauling his muscle car, outfitting it with a 6.5-liter LSX V8 that churns out no less than 808 hp. Coupled to this engine is a G-Force GF4A transmission that powers the rear wheels.

There is clearly no mistaking this Trans Am from a regular, road-going example as it features flared front and rear wheel arches. The interior has also been completely stripped out, meaning it weighs only 3,165 lbs (1,435 kg).

As impressive as this Pontiac is, the BMW 3-Series it raced is equally as unique. It’s been designed as a Time Attack car and has also undergone an engine swap that saw a massive 7.3-liter V8 slotted under its hood. It also features a sequential transmission, is rear-wheel drive, and tips the scales at 2,700 lbs (1,224 kg).

During the first race, the driver of the Trans Am messed up a gear change, allowing the BMW to take an easy win. The second rolling race, by comparison, was extremely close with the Pontiac taking the win by roughly one foot, meaning it was all to play for in the third and final race.

Cummins-Swapped Dodge Charger Loves To Roll Coal

The Dodge Charger is a dime a dozen in the United States so making one that stands out can be a bit of a challenge. Enter this modified Charger, unlike any other we’ve come across.

This car was briefly listed up for sale on Facebook Marketplace and while the listing has since been removed, we still have photos and details about the customized sedan. It is ‘intriguing’, to put it lightly.

Sitting in place of the 3.5-liter V6 that the 2007 Charger SXT once had is a 5.9-liter Cummins turbodiesel straight-six. The valve cover and turbocharger of this engine have been painted green and it has been paired with a 48RE four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. As standard, this engine is rated at 325 hp and 610 lb-ft (827 Nm) of torque, The Drive notes.

As these photos show, the owner doesn’t seem all that concerned with power and has tuned the Cummins engine so it can roll coal and it does just that. It also has an exhaust exiting directly out of the hood and is more than happy to spin up its rear wheels if you give the throttle pedal a bootful.

While the engine swap appears to have been a success, the owner has also repainted the car in matte black and it hasn’t been quite so well done. In fact, it looks like the owner simply grabbed a few cans of spray paint and went to town on the Charger.

The car had an asking price of $8,000 when it was available on Facebook Marketplace.

Chevrolet Colorado ‘Kymera’ Feels Right At Home Tackling The Wilderness

Say hello to ‘Kymera,’ an insane off-roader built by a shop out of South Carolina dubbed Fab Fours.

Recently featured in an episode of Ridiculous Rides, Kymera started out life as a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, not that you’d be able to tell from its crazed outward appearance. In fact, it looks more like a Trophy Truck than a Colorado.

For starters, Kymera is no longer front-engined; instead, the engine sits where the bed once was. This isn’t any regular engine either, but a 5.9-liter Cummins diesel V8 that’s been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, so it now delivers 650 hp and spews out plums of black smoke whenever you touch the accelerator pedal.

It’s not just the engine that makes this Colorado special. The vehicle features all-new suspension, including absolutely massive Fox shocks and springs, and also utilizes military-spec axles. What’s more, it has a rear-wheel steering system that means it is very maneuverable, despite its size.

While Kymera certainly turns heads on the roads, that’s not where it is at home. Instead, the truck is best suited to climbing up rocks along difficult off-road trails or bashing through the desert. It is the ultimate toy car and we’re sure would be an absolute ball to drive. Given how big the Fox shocks are, we imagine it rides over small rocks like a Rolls-Royce rides on the pavement. In the unlikely event that the truck does get stuck, it has a 12,000 lbs winch up front to help pull it free.
