Florida Could Suspend Carvana’s Dealer License For Not Submitting Title Applications

Florida could suspend Carvana’s dealer license after it has failed to transfer the titles of some vehicles sold.

Carvana was reportedly notified of the issues in an email sent by Florida authorities last week. This email is said to have included a spreadsheet that showed 300 Carvana vehicle sales dating back to 2019 that had not had their titles transferred. More than 100 of these vehicle sales occurred in Florida.

State law in Florida requires retailers to apply for a title within 30 days of completing a sale. Speaking with Auto News, a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said Carvana has until January 31 to submit title applications for all the vehicles it sold in 2021 before December 1.

“The department has been proactively working with Carvana to identify and assist Florida customers who have not received their title in a timely manner, and in accordance with state law,” the spokesperson added. “Florida law allows for the suspension of the dealer’s license if they fail to apply for a transfer of title in a timely manner.”

This isn’t the first time Carvana has been scrutinized for not delivering titles in time. Earlier this year it settled with Florida regulators and agreed to pay $500 each to 12 customers who had to wait three to eight months to receive titles on vehicles they purchased. In August, Carvana had its dealer license suspended for 180 days in Wake County, North Carolina for not producing titles fast enough, among other issues.

Carvana sold 244,111 vehicles in the U.S. last year, making it the country’s second-largest retailer of used vehicles. A spokeswoman from the company says Carvana has applied for around 23,500 titles in Florida over the past 12 months.

Used Car Prices Fall In August But Are Still Up 32% From A Year Ago

Used cars prices dropped in August for the first time in seven months after seven months in which they skyrocketed compared to 2020.

Figures from the Labor Department reveal that prices slipped by 1.4 per cent last month, posting the first decline since January. However, used car prices are still up 31.9 per cent from 12 months ago and as the global chip shortage continues to wreak havoc on the production of new vehicles resulting in supply not keeping up with demand in many cases, may remain high for quite some time.

Fox Business notes that used car prices were also supported by the flight from city centers to the suburbs and multiple rounds of stimulus checks. In addition, rental car companies have begun to restock their fleets after selling them off during the early stages of the pandemic.

Used car prices started to see a negative payback after the record-smashing rally over the past year,” noted Bank of America economist Alexander Lin.

The Federal Reserve added that the surge in used car prices serves as evidence that inflation is transitory and that prices will recede once supply chain disruptions are resolved.

3M chief financial officer Monish Patolawala says new vehicle production will decline 6 per cent year-over-year in the second half of this year due to the chip shortage. However, some analysts expect used car prices to remain relatively stable in the coming months.

If you happen to have a vehicle sitting around that you could do without, now could be the time to sell it. However, if you’re in the market for a used car, waiting for the chip shortage to end could be a wise move.

Porsche Cayenne GTS With A Six-Speed Is An SUV That’s Actually Fun To Drive

There are loads of new SUVs on the market that are faster than this 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS but if you want to enjoy the true thrill of driving while behind the wheel of an SUV, this is a good option.

Adorning the exterior of this Cayenne is a color known as GTS Red that is contrasted with silver 21-inch wheels and red brake calipers. It rides on 295/35 Continental CrossContact tires at all four corners and the Bring a Trailer listing notes that it suffered “moderate damage” to the left-front corner in 2015 but has since been repaired.

A look inside the cabin reveals black leather and Alcantara adorning the seats, dashboard, door panels, carpets, and floor mats. While it is a 2009 model, it comes loaded with nice features including heated front seats, a Bose surround sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and a six-disc CD changer.

Of course, the real highlight of this Cayenne is its naturally-aspirated 4.8-liter V8 that pumped out 405 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque when it was new. Coupled to this V8 is a six-speed manual transmission sending power through all four wheels. The idea of a high-performance SUV with a stick shift is almost unfathomable nowadays and adds an extra level of desirability to this Porsche.

The listing notes that the SUV was most recently sold on the popular auction site for $33,333 back in May 2019. Considering how crazy used car prices have been over the past 12 months, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Cayenne now sold for more than that. It has 119,000 miles (191,000 km) under its belt.

Bright Pink Cadillac Coupe de Ville Is A Surefire Way To Turn Heads

A 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville has popped up for sale on eBay and while bidding is approaching the $80,000 mark, it could be worth every penny.

The listing doesn’t provide all that many details about the car, but it has been upgraded and restored. The seller states that it “gets more looks than a Lamborghini” and thanks to the pink paint and the car’s road presence, that’s probably true.

Helping transform the look of the car is an Accuair air suspension system that means the ride height can be easily adjusted, perfect for when you want to lower it for a show or raise it up to get over a speedbump. The exterior of the car also includes custom wheels with whitewall tires and the white roof nicely contrasts the pink paint.

Extensive work has also been done on the interior of the Cadillac as all the seats and the trunk have been re-trimmed in white leather. The cabin also features blue ambient lighting and there is now a digital instrument cluster that displays things like battery voltage, oil temperature, speed, revs, temperature, and fuel levels. A new Bluetooth audio system has also been fitted so you can blast your favorite tunes while cruising up and down Rodeo Drive.

The listing notes that the Caddy has 53,000 miles (85,295 km) on the clock and is located in Riverton, Utah. While bidding was sitting at $76,100 at the time of writing, the reserve hadn’t been met.

Brabus 3.6S Lightweight Is A Hardcore 190E With A 286 HP 3.6-Liter Straight-6 And Two Seats

Brabus has created some pretty remarkable cars over the years and the one-off 3.6S Lightweight is one of its most special.

The German tuner revealed a prototype of the hardcore 3.6S in 1988 as a stripped-out take on the 190E with virtually no creature comforts and just two seats. Customers wanted something more practical so the eventual production model added back some features including the air conditioning and rear seats. Fast forward to 2008 and Brabus PR director Sven Gramm commissioned the company to produce a one-off 3.6S Lightweight just like the original concept. This is it and it is currently up for sale through eBay.

Powering the car is a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated straight-six with 286 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The car also features a modified engine cooler, modified transmission oil cooler, and a bespoke differential oil cooler in the rear spoiler, as well as a stainless steel exhaust system and modified manifolds. It can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.3 seconds and tops out at 158 mph (254 km/h).

Gramm happily drove around in the one-off 3.6S Lightweight after it was built before selling it to its current owner. It was first registered in the UK in 2017 and currently has just 6,487 miles (10,439 km) under its belt.

As you would imagine, the car isn’t cheap and is being sold through Fast Classics in the UK for £99,995 ($138,207). Interestingly, we wrote about the same car three years ago when it was also being sold by Fast Classics, with an asking price of £131,995 ($182,436).

Bright Orange Koenigsegg CCR Is The First One Ever Shown To The Public

The very first Koenigsegg CCR revealed to the public is heading to auction next month and is expected to sell for between €720,000 (US$877,000) and €760,000 (US$926,000).

The very first Koenigsegg presented to the world was dubbed the CC and a few years later, the niche Swedish automaker unveiled the CC8S. Then, at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004, it showed this very CCR, the third model it had built and a significant improvement over the ones that came before it.

This CCR is chassis 7011 and was used by Koenigsegg as a show car for a couple of years before it was registered new in Germany in May 2006. It is finished in a special color dubbed Lava Orange and is one of just 14 CCR models that were ever built. The supercar has spent time in collections in Germany, France, and Luxembourg but still only has just 2,347 km on the clock.

Powering the CCR is a 4.7-liter V8 that doesn’t feature a pair of turbochargers like the brand’s current models but instead has a pair of superchargers. All up, the powertrain delivers 806 hp and 679 lb-ft (920 Nm) of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

On February 28, 2005, Koenigsegg brought a CCR to the Nardo Ring in Italy and pushed it through to a top speed of 241.01 mph (387.87 km/h), topping the McLaren F1 to be the world’s fastest production car. However, this record was broken in April 2005 by the Bugatti Veyron.

Ultra-Low Mileage Jaguar XJ220 Is One Underappreciated Gem

The Jaguar XJ220 managed to set a top speed record as well as a fastest production car lap at the Nurburgring, yet the fact that the British company chose a turbocharged V6 engine, instead of the V12 of the 1988 concept, along with the recession of the early 1990s, meant that it was a commercial flop.

Jaguar built just 281 examples of the XJ220 from 1992 to 1994 and this unit, which is for sale at Canepa, is number 237. It was delivered new to a customer in Switzerland and later traded hands to another Swiss-based businessman in 1999. Not long after buying the iconic British supercar, its owner reached out to Jaguar to see if it would be possible to get it to the United States.

Eventually, the car was exported to the U.S. by Sun International Racing in Manhattan Beach, California that had previous experience importing cars such as the Ford Escort RS Cosworth, Renault R5 Turbo, and the Series 1 Lotus Elise. The car ultimately touched down in Los Angeles on June 28th, 2001 under the ‘show and display’ exemption.

The listing states that the car remained in a private collection for the next 14 years until it was sold by Canepa in 2015. In the six years since, it has been driven just 242 km (150 miles) and is now being sold by Canepa yet again.

While under the possession of Canepa, the XJ220 underwent a comprehensive detailing regime and is said to be in excellent mechanical shape. As it stands, the Burgundy-colored XJ220 has 1,817 km (1,129 miles) on the clock.

Want This 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG? Well, You’ll First Have To Get The OK From NHTSA

Interested in acquiring this Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG? Good – but you’ll first have to get the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s blessing.

The reason is that the rare car was imported to the United States from Germany and federalized by Wallace Environmental Testing Laboratories of Houston for ‘show or display’. Therefore, any transfer of ownership must first be approved by the NHTSA. Moreover, the annual mileage will have to be kept at under 2,500 miles (4,023 km) and the new owner will also have to make it available for inspection by the safety agency until it turns 25 years old.

A German Touring Car Championship homologation special, the CLK DTM AMG was built in 180 examples, 100 coupes and 80 cabriolets. This one came to life in 2005 and has less than 1,600 miles (2,575 km) on the odometer, with 100 of them covered over the past six years. It sports a silver paint finish and black leather & Alcantara interior, and has a plaque that denotes its arrival in the Lone Star State in 2009. It is estimated that only five such rides are currently in North America.

Powering it is a 574 HP 5.4-liter supercharged V8 that’s hooked up to a 5G-Tronic automatic transmission. Top speed stands at over 200 mph (320 km/h) and it will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just four seconds.

Accompanied by the original manuals, first aid kit, tool kit and battery tender, this CLK DTM AMG will go on sale at the RMSothebys Amelia Island auction on May 22.

1982 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S Is The Epitome Of What Supercars Are All About

Few vehicles better define the term ‘supercar’ quite like the Lamborghini Countach and collectors out there will be pleased to know that a rare example is looking for a new home.

This Countach is a 1982 LP400 S model and was sold new in the Middle East before being exported to the United States in the early 1990s. In 1994, it was seized by the DEA and sold at an auction. The seller has owned the car since 1997 and while it has been driven 65,000 km (~40,000 miles), it is still in good condition.

Lamborghini produced just 237 examples of the Countach LP400 S, including 82 Series III cars like this one. This example is painted in red and sits on 15-inch ‘phone-dial’ alloy wheels that measure 8.5-inch wide at the front and 12-inch wide at the rear and are wrapped in 205/50 front and 345/35 rear Pirelli tires.

The cabin features bucket seats clad in tan leather and contrasting the black carpets and black dashboard. The Bring A Trailer listing notes that the headliner has been replaced and the car retains standard equipment including the air conditioning and Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo system.

As standard, the car came with a 3.9-liter 60-degree V12. However, this Countach had its engine removed and rebuilt in May 2019. It is now equipped with 84 mm pistons and liners, a revised crankshaft, and a 66 mm stroke, meaning it displaces 4.4-liters. Coupled to this engine is a five-speed manual transaxle gearbox driving the rear wheels.
